Knowing how steep and slippery the spur track was in places, John didn’t want to take the G-Wagon down with a fully laden trailer. They removed half of the fuel drums and he inched his way down the slope in low range. Even with the reduced load he felt the mass of the trailer pushing from behind. After reaching the bottom they unloaded the trailer and he drove back up the slope with Abi in the passenger seat. They loaded the remaining drums back in and repeated the descent. Rolling all of the drums back up the loading ramp; standing them up and securing the load was hard work and they were relieved when it was all done.
